Anyone have issues getting the retaining ring over the edge of the lense? On both headlights it seems like the edge of the lense is slightly sticking out past the black part of the rear body in one spot. Around 3/4 of the lights, the lense is flush with the back part of the body. I have black metal after market retaining rings that worked fine with the knock-offs. Not sure if I should grind down the high spots on the lights or spilt the ring to get it over the lense?

Thanks!

Are you referring to the little ring that holds the lights in place, or the bezel? The factory mounting ring fits over my truck lites without any issue, though the lights have to be oriented correctly to seat all the way (there is a slot somewhere to clock them correctly).

It's just the ring with that secures it into place and not the bezel.

It slots in there just fine.

This part?

Yes...that's it. I can't get it over the clear lense portion to butt up against the lip further back.

Meaning it won't even clear the face of the lense?

It's been several years since I installed mine, but I don't recall anything unusual except the lense face blocking my screwdriver from getting too the bezel screws.

I have the eBay knock offs and there was one screw that wouldn’t go back in on one of them due to the same issue. I think I just put in two of the three and said good enough on that one. It’s been two or three years and it hasn’t moved yet. Good luck!

It’s been so long since I installed the Truck Lites, but I definitely didn’t have this issue at all with mine.

Mine almost certainly has the factory retaining ring. And it appears to be split.

I dremeled the inside de of the ring about a 1/16th of an inch all the way around and that did the trick.

Sorry to Frankenstein a long-ago post, but I've just run into this issue myself — nothing I do allows the retaining ring to sit flush enough for me to get the screws inserted, as they are too short if I leave the ring resting on the outer edge of the light. Should I be looking to purchase a different retaining ring?
