I’ve been fighting a rear brake noise which led to me realizing my rear wheels didn’t spin straight(they had a wobble to them). These are the revolution USA made dana 44 shafts for drum brakes. I checked the runout on my hubs and had less than .003” on both hubs. I rotated wheels around and all wheels had a wobble on the rear but not the front. Finally, I noticed a witness mark on the inside of the brake drum. It is obvious the outside of the revolution flange was contacting here.
I decided to grind down the flange for clearance. I put the rear on jack stands, locked the diff, and ran it in 4th gear while I used my grinder with a flap disk.
Cleaned up the drum brakes and lubed the contact points, reassembled, and no more brake noise. The wheels spin true(since the drum is now properly seated) and I am happy. I had swapped drums fighting the noise, so I had both oreillys special and also centric drums installed. Hopefully this helps someone else.
