So I have saved up a little money and want to replace the 18" JK rims the PO had installed on my jeep.
I know I need 3.5"-4" of backspacing to get rid of the spacers he has on there also.
Question is, what size rim should I go with 15" or 16"? I also plan on an 8" wide rim.
I plan to buy the wheels now and buy tires once the ones I have are worn out.

Go with 15" trust me. You'll have sooooooo much more selection to choose from when it comes to tires. I have 16" wheels (the stock Rubicon wheels) and the selection is very, very limited.

4 - 4-1/2" of backspacing, unless you're looking to run tires wider than 10-1/2" or so. Backspacing is important.

Yeah, that's why I want to change the rims. The JK rims have no backspacing (or minimal at best)and requires the 1-1/4" spacers I also want to get rid of. Sounds like 15's it is! Thanks All!

I had been thinking about 17's. But the knowledgeable folks on here pointed out several things that led me to get 15's. Tire price for one. Look for two. You can virtually put any size tire on it for three. What's not to like? Good choice!
