Here's a good example why to always inspect your vehicles before a road trip. My mom called me yesterday and asked if I had time to change the oil in her Nissan Rogue before her 600 mile road trip tomorrow. Of course I said sure.
Oil filter is in the passenger side wheel well and although it's accessible without pulling the wheel, I chose to so I could check out the brake pads while I was at it. I noticed some built up oil or grease on the filter so I pulled the fender liner and saw this.
Time for a trip to the parts store!
Two hours later I was done, she can drive safe, and I can sleep good.
