Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts dead at 80

From what I've read he partook in alcohol, heroin and speed in the past just not to the extent of Jagger and certainly not Richards.
Apparently he knew that he had a problem when Keith had a chat with him warning him of the risks of taking heroin, speed and alcohol.

His wife whom he married before the Stones and was still with at the end helped him through it.

He put the Roll into "Rock and Roll".

She could have named him Brian Jones since he was an original member of the Stones.

Oops! I should have mentioned that I made up the last name to protect the innocent child.

Considering that he's probably about 35 yrs old and I last saw him as a toddler, I guess it's OK to post his actual name.

Keith Richards Stevens

I'm not really sure about the "s" on Richards but I but that's right.

From another forum that I thought was humorous

A Charlie Watts "story". I herdz it on the TV so itz got to be true.......

....anyhow Mick comes into wherever they were staying drunk in the early AM and hollering "where's my drummer!?!"

Charlie had been asleep, gets up, puts on his suit and tie, walks down and punches Mick in the kisser and sez........

"NEVER call me your drummer, YOU are my singer!" and goes back to bed.
