I have front and rear complete axles out of an 2006 Rubicon and will be putting them under my 98 Sport. My question(s) is about getting the rear disc brakes hooked up properly. I haven't looked real close under my Jeep yet to see how the brake lines are ran for the existing drums. I also need to know the best way or any way to mount the air locker compressors and wire switches for them. The compressors do have everything for the axles just nothing to go to any switches.
Any other help is greatly appreciated. I won't be doing the install for a month or two but wanted to get as much info now so I know what I need to look for and expect.

The brake lines hook right up. I haven't hooked up my conpressors yet.

This is taken from something @Jerry Bransford said in regards to the locker wiring. I agree with this 100%. I wouldn't wire the lockers up the factory way since it's pretty stupid. I would wire them up completely independent of each other.

I wouldn't bother trying do duplicate the factory kludged up locker system wiring. My Rubicon's lockers weren't working at all when I bought it so I moved both locker compressors into the engine compartment and installed all new wiring and switches. This circuit is nothing but a simple on-off source of switched 12 volts for the compressors, like wiring up a light bulbto be turned on/off by an on-off switch.

Providing switched 12v power to the compressorsis all you need to do, they have an internal pressure switchto shut themselves off automatically when the correct pressure is achieved. My front/rear compressorsare wired completely independently of each other, either can be turned on or off by itself.

I mounted the front/rear switches under those orange flip-up safety covers next to the OE locker switch location. The only reason those switches have 3 wires going to them is they are also illuminated, totally unneeded. I plan to replace both plastic switches with more rugged switches with steel toggles. All you need are simple SPST on-off switches to control the compressors.

This is where I ended up mounting the switches while rewiring the locker circuit. Nope, I don't use that factory locker switch for anything since rewiring the circuit from scratch.

Maybe this will happen sooner than I thought. Now that I'm installing a brand new Adams Driveshaft on a Dana 35 with my sye today.

That's good news!

I've been meaning to take apart my factory Rubicon locker wiring and do them independent of each other. I think the factory system is rather annoying.

My only wish is that I could figure out a way to make the locker lights in the gauge cluster still work without the factory wiring setup.
 
Where are the air compressors mounted on yours? I have nothing to compare mine to.

I need to look again but I believe they are mounted on the edge of the transfer case near the output shaft.

Do your self a favor and relocate those pumps upwards. They are subject to abuse from mud/water, rocks there and the are a bitch to work on.

ABStray is where I put mine but I know of others that have them under the drivers seat.

I'm getting ready to put the Savvy skid plates on, so now is the time I should do that. I'll definitely relocate them. If I move them to the ABS tray do I have to extend the factory wiring?

I didn't have to on mine ( If I remember correctly--it has been several years now) I think I did have to extend or modify the air lines but that is super easy. Remember you are only dealing with 5 psi.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'll definitely relocate them and it will likely be to the ABS tray since the factory location seems like a bad one.

Are you still running your stock lockers?
