Sand storm in Tempe today

I got caught in a sand storm coming home. I thought maybe you would like some pics:

First one is me driving into it. It was pretty scary. I thought I was going to beat it home but no:

Ahhh, I miss living in Scottsdale and Chandler when those sandstorms would happen. Of course somehow I'd always get stuck in it on my motorcycle and have to pull over and wait until it passed. No way I'm getting killed!

Yeah this was the worst one I have ever been in. At some point I had to stop taking pictures because the visibility was so bad. I actually turned on my hazzards and spotters on the ride home. Not once did I get flashed.

When I left work I was thinking man I am so glad I washed and waxed my Jeep before I put the lift on it. If you look at the first pic, the hood is clean and by the last it is all sandy.

I suppose it could scratch the paint. I will pressure wash it with a foam gun and let it soak most of the top sand off then rinse it with the pressure wash and hand wash it with a microfiber mitt. That is really the best I can do, but honestly this is the first sand storm I have actually driven in, so I will have to get back to you on it.

I think as long as nobody pushes it in the paint, you know like wipe "Wash me" in the paint, I bet I will be ok. I do keep it washed and waxed for the most part, so I do think I will be good.

Waxing will help that sand slide off....

I've been through a few of them out on tractors in the fields. Rock springs Wyoming is a hellhole for his crap. I wouldn't keep driving in it, grt off the road and shut your engine OFF. Why would you suck that into your engine?
