Seat belts for rear seat

I detached the self winding assembly from the roll bar in order to install a basket. I can no longer pull the seat belt out. The self winding mechanism works but, I can’t pull it out long enough to reattach to the roll bat.
I assume those is a simple task but, I’m failing at it and would appreciate guidance. Thanks

Is there a cover on the roller that you can remove?

You have to open it up and hold the ratchet latch open, then pull out the belt and put a safety pin in the belt to prevent retracting again.
