Seatbelt "PUSH" button won't retract

Got in my jeep and noticed out of nowhere that the button on my seatbelt latch gets stuck pushed down. I have to pry it out with my nails in order to latch it with the seatbelt hook and when I push it down to release the seatbelt the button stays pushed in. Can someone help me figure out how to fix this? Can I take the mechanism out and dissect it to visualize its internals?

Mine did something similar but it was the outer case around the button that was the problem. It was sliding down on the button assy and it wouldnt latch then. I just gave it a good tug upward and it works fine for a while.

Cleaning them out with WD-40 has worked for me in the past. A large towel is helpful as it can be a little messy, particularly while still bolted inside.
