Shock bolt/mount issues

So I'm going with the zone shocks for now until this winter when I go over a lot of things and drop some serious money into my tj. my final question on this whole ordeal, should I still stay away from nitro shocks regardless of brand? Thanks again for all the input guys, I come from a dirtbike background with some 4x4 knowledge so this is still a learning thing for me.

Zone makes good stuff, so you'll be fine there.

From my understanding they are nitrogen charged versus filled with fluid. Someone a few replies up said they ride rough but I wasn't sure if he was referring to a certain brand

What exactly is a nitro shock?

It is gas (nitrogen) charged, standard shocks are hydraulic. Gas-charged are higher performance meant for more demanding/difficult situations. They were originally designed for racing but have become more mainstream. They're also more expensive than hydraulic shocks. They're both found in probably equal numbers on tjs.

Gotcha. I knew of gas shocks, I just didn't realize people called them nitro as well.

I run gas (nitro) shocks and really like them. That's probably what I would lean towards.

I ran skyjacker's nitro shocks and they were STIFF. I also ran Zone's Nitro shocks on my XJ and they were nothing like skyjacker's. They are firmer than hydraulic shocks but they keep your tires planted and reduce body roll. The zone shocks are probably the only under-$40 shock that I'd buy again.

I hope you are measuring to get the proper length and also set those bumpstops so you don't kill the new shocks. All you need are hockey pucks, bolts, drill/bit, and tap.
