Just got my 4 new Rancho RS5000X shocks for my 99 TJ. They are for 0-2" lift. So of course I wanted to feel how theses things operate before installing them. After simply fully compressing them and letting them rebound freely I noticed that one of the rear shocks rebounds to full extension much quicker than the other rear and both front shocks. I am thinking it is a manufacturing defect. I cycled them many times to try to "equalize" the fluids/gasses. I mean brand new shocks should all rebound at about the same rate, wouldn't you think? I guess I will contact the seller and request a replacement. I ordered through our forum's Amazon store. Also, one of the boxes for the rear shocks was already open. I don't know if that is the "faulty" one or not.

Unequal rebound speed across RS5000X shocks is not a problem according to Tenneco, and typically uneven based on my experience. No rebound, or stuck, is a defect. Be sure to cycle the shock in the upright position.

OK
So I was on the phone with BoostProjects (Seller) and they were ready to set up an exchange. As we were talking, I cycled them a few more times and now the full rebound has less than a second between them. Told them that was the best customer service I ever had! LOL! As soon as my black boots arrive they are going in!

Good deal!

Where did you buy the black boots from?

The rear boots are different and are hard plastic. I am going to have to spray them black.

nice. I painted my shock bodies silver, which now matches the color combo of the RS9000, but it still doesn't look as good as it would with black boots.
