Stupid question, but I bought a sye over the deal weekend and while I won’t be installing it til next spring I checked it out to make sure all is there and the yoke retaining nut will thread on maybe two three turns by hand then I can’t turn it anymore. I understand they’re one time use, is this normal behavior?

Threads on both look brand new and the same pitch etc.

Just trying to make sure nothing is wrong since it’ll be sitting for a while.

It's a locking nut. Threads on ~1/2 way. After that it is made to thread hard to prevent it from spinning loose after it is installed.

Hmm I don’t recall mine being hard to hand spin on at all. I have the advance adapters SYE kit.

Locking/deformed-thread pinion nuts are significantly more expensive, not many kits include them. I forget what one costs but I was surprised how much they cost when I bought one.

Seems right cause I can kinda force it on farther by hand, just wanted to make sure.

The kit I got is the rugged ridge mega short kit for $200.
