Side to side play on accelerator pedal

I just noticed that I have what seems like excessive side to side play in my accelerator pedal. Is there some sort of bushing or retainer or something that is supposed to keep the pedal arm locked more tightly on the shaft/pivot point?

That arm looks like it's shifted sideways beyond the end of the splines. See if you can force it back towards the center of the bracket.

I was wondering about that. I tried moving it over, but it didn't seem like it wanted to go. I might have to take it off and see if I can shift it a little. Maybe it has some sort of keyway or something. I'll tinker with it tonight

That was it. I had to actually remove the bracket from the Jeep so that I could tap the arm back on to the shaft with a hammer. I got it back right in the middle of the splines, and it has much less play now. Thanks!

Mine is the same way.

Once I get it slid back over I might use a small shaft collar to keep it from moving again.

Probably not a bad idea. Something like that or maybe a push nut.
