Simple tweaks with big changes

Today I took care of a couple issues that have been bothering me since I got my jeep back from the shop. They were:

1) Rough shifting. I got a new clutch installed and it improved significantly but it still seemed a little rough mainly between second and third. So I read through the forums and decided to order some redline MTL. Installed it in 15 min ,took it for a drive and man what a difference! Drives like it’s got a brand new transmission. I highly recommend it!

2) Rough ride. I just had a 4 inch TeraFlex/hybrid lift ( misc manufacturers parts) put on and it still seems pretty rough over bumps. I checked my tire pressure and even though I asked the shop to lower it it was still in about 34 psi. Dropped all the tires down to 28 and it drives so much better.

This took all of 15 to 20 minutes, as long as you are not counting the 30 minutes it took to drive to the auto parts store to buy a 17 mm Allen head! This was some of the better time and money I spent to date and now the Jeep drives so much better. I highly recommend looking at these issues if you haven’t.

I can testify to how much of a difference tire pressure makes. First time I went from 35 to 26 psi I was astounded.

Then once I went from E rated tires to C rated tires, I was blown away!

A real good tire balancing makes a tremendous difference in the ride as well.

E rated tires would be ridiculously stiff on a Jeep. I have them on my 3/4 & 1 ton vans but why would someone put them on a light Jeep?

Lack of tire selection. Many 16" tires are for 1 tons or Trailers. If you like your rims then you have far fewer C range tires to choose from.

You'd be shocked.

I would say 9 out of 10 Jeep drivers are driving around with E rated tires.

What's worse is that when you look at 17" wheels (which are standard on JKs and JLs), there are only two choices for C rated tires. When you look at 15" wheels (which is what most TJs come with), there are over 12 choices for C rated tires.

E rated tires ride terribly on Jeeps, it's nuts.
