Ill be as brief as possible. Put a new master and slave cylinder on my 97 TJ. After install I pushed on the pedal and felt and heard a "pop". I figured it's just the plastic keeper on the slave. I started the vehicle and the pedal fell to the floor !!! WTF!!! After further investigation the slave unit blew apart and
Shot the plunger into the transmission!! Am I fucked or what?! Will I need a new transmission? I don't know what I should do. Is there any way to save without a total transmission removal ? And bunch of money I can't afford to spend. Thoughts and suggestions are welcomed.

So the good news is that it just popped the plunger into the bell housing so no harm to the transmission. The bad news is that there is a good chance you will have to pull the transmission and transfer case to retrieve it.

Damn 😩!! I figured that was my only option. Thanks

I had a similar incident when flushing out the fluid in slave and was able to fish the part out without removing tranny.

Duralast 23Pre bled Master and slave cylinder kit from AutoZone.
