My family and I were wheeling in our 99 TJ 4.0 5 sp last weekend when my clutch stopped functioning. Felt a pop and pedal went to the floor. Crawled under, pulled off the slave cylinder, and found (I believe) that the plunger had slipped out of the pocket on the clutch shoe. I put it back in place and the clutch functioned normally.
Please help me with a couple of Questions.
#1 Does anyone use the spring retainer clip listed in the parts manual. I don't see any posts about it and none of the videos about cylinder changes say anything about it.
#2 Could it be a clutch shoe retaining clip or throw out bearing issue.
sorry #3 Could it just be a worn and wobbly slave cylinder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
