Slight Steering Shimmy

Slight steering shimmy between 44-52mph. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in, though I'm usually in 4th (I have the 6-speed tranny). It never happens at any other speed and I've been up to 80mph, smooth as a kitten. Passenger can't feel it, you can only feel it in the steering wheel. Any ideas?

Possibly, the front tires need balancing. I've had this issue before. The remedy was a balancing.

That's always the sweet spot for tires out of balance or internal separation. I had to take a cement truck on a test drive to very a complaint and even those massive duplex fronts show a balance issue about that speed.

Drive 43 and slower, or 53 and faster

Or get your tires balanced

Do you drive on gravel roads at all? If you do, your tires can hold on to a fair amount of rocks enough to throw them out of balance. I live down a gravel road, and occasionally get the shimmy at that speed range. Pick the rocks out of the tread lugs and good as new. Or, your tires need balanced, lol!

I dont think anyone mentioned this yet but it may be your tires being out of balance.

Since nobody else suggested you get your tires balanced, that's what you need to get taken care of.

Speed sensitive shimmies are always related to the tires or wheels not spinning true. And few tire shops spend enough time to get our tires balanced well enough the first time if you recently had them balanced. It took my local Discount Tire shop balancing my tires 3X in one day before they finally got rid of the shimmy I took it in for.
