Sloppy steering new front end

I put a Redhead in my 97 last summer and it's been excellent. Their customer support is very responsive and they'll even send you a core return shipping label...you have to pay for it but it's cheaper through their account.

I'm also five hours south of them...I like being close enough to parts suppliers I can throw things at.

Redhead seems to be the best replacement option, but they're not cheap and you have to ship the core back to them. Lares seems to be about the same price iirc, although I don't think Rock Auto has the core charge.

I'm 1 out of 2 with redhead steering boxes on duramax trucks. I think I'll be getting a new lares or psc box to replace the worn out napa rebuild in my jeep with 30k on it. I'm tired of steering box whack a mole

No. One in my lifted truck on 35s is fine. The other i put on a stock truck was a dud out of the box with a big dead spot in the middle and jerky power application. Rebuilds are only as good as the core

I guess Im just surprised that they have a section devoted to something that doesn't really fix anything.

That's why it's called a Factory Service Manual and not a Shade Tree Mechanic Manual.
