Smittybilt soft top leak / fitment issue

Haven’t found this particular issue searching threads. I have a SmittyBilt soft top that I run in the summer on my TJ. It has the plastic door surrounds that the lip/flange of the top and windows tuck into.

The passenger door front lip for some reason folds the top down into the door jamb, leaving puddles in the floor after a downpour. Driver’s side is fine. I’m thinking about shaving off some of the plastic flange with a dremmel or altering the angle of the bend somehow.

Anybody had this problem?

I think the angle of the flange is just off. If I remember when I get home tomorrow in the garage I’ll post pics of the actual flanges driver vs passenger

Hmmm...I have half doors and the factory surrounds. The top over the doors tucks into the stock channels just fine.

It looks like your full doors aren't tucking under the top.

What do the surrounds on your TJ look like?

The surrounds that came with the top are a black plastic, L shaped. They fold in half to store. To put them on they fold out, and are secured at the top via two threaded knobs that screw into the roll bar.

Entirely possible theses surrounds aren’t SmittyBilt units. I got the top free after I called the dealer quoting the ad saying the Jeep had A/C, only to realize in there was no factory air, it was just winter when I test drove it Got too excited and didn’t notice the total lack of A/C. So I asked if he could get me a soft top. Said he had this one in great shape (it is), pulled off another jeep. So the surrounds might not match the top?

Sounds simular to the factory surrounds then. Try loosening the knob and rolling the rails up a little so the doors clear the rails.
