I’m certain lots of people have faced the issue of the plastic twist cap for these pins stripping due to over tightening, then the knob just spins when you try to unscrew them, and you can remove the pin. Or, the knob disintegrated in your hand due to sitting in the sun for years. Thought I’d pass on my fix, maybe this has been posted before...?

First off, if the knob is in good shape and merely spins without turning the pin, it is stripped. Pull the knob off the pin if removed from roll bar, or pry it off with flat heat screwdriver then unscrew pin with vice grips. Mix up some JB Weld and coat the knurled end of the pin, then tap it back into the knob with a hammer. Viola - better than factory.

If your knob has broken, wiggle the pin out of it and discard the ruined knob. I bought a threaded 3/8” knob at Home Depot and the pin fits snugly into the threaded nut in the knob. Coat the pin with JB Weld, tap it into the knob with a hammer, check the depth of how much pin is sticking out of the knob to the threads compared to the depth a stock one does and then coat the top side of the pin with JB Weld. Viola - good as factory. $5 fix.
