Soft top tailgate bar issues

So I got a used soft top (pavement ends) and it came with a tail gate bar but this bar is too thick to fit into the receiving brackets. The male end of the bar measures 3/4”, my brackets have only 1/2” tall slots.

does anyone know who makes a taller receiving bracket? The only info I have on the bar is the part number (see pic)

Maybe you've got it installed the wrong way. Without being installed on the soft top, rotate it 90* and see if it fits.
 
Looks like the part number is factory. I see factory parts show two types that change 1/6/97.

based on the part number I have a post 97 bar

Okay, I had to check. When I got my first jeep, mine was installed wrong and I kept it that way for a year or so.
