Hey guys, so I got this 1999 knowing that I needed to address a few things.....

1) I’m giving the coolant system a bit of a overhaul but pretty much have that covered thanks to the great parts list here on the forum.

2) Also the front axle set has been replaced with a high pinion 30, supposedly had new gears and seals put in, but it has fluid seeping out at the end of the tube by the hub area. Not sure what’s up with that. I was thinking of installing some tube seals but is this something I should address before doing that? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005TDN2KI/?tag=wranglerorg-20

3) The Bestop has a small issue where on the left and right of the back gate the plastic lip that goes unto the groove on the Jeep has about 3” that’s broke off. Is there any way to repair that? It doesn’t seem to be causing any problems worthy of replacing the top, but I’d like to fix it if possible.

4) Installing a Flowmaster cat, but think I have that covered

5) terrible squeeky sound in back whenever the body moves. I’ve noticed it doesn’t seem to happen when going over a bump so I don’t think it’s a shock. It seems to happen in a turn of if someone is getting in and out of the back shacking the Jeep around some. It seems like whenever the body moves, even a slight amount, that it squeaks.

Anyone have some thoughts on numbers 2, 3, 5?

Re: #5 - can you have a buddy help isolate the source of each squeak?
I eliminated every ear splitting squeak in my 97. Check your body mounts, spray wd40 around the rubbers.
Check the rear tailgate hinges. I had an ear splitting squeak coming from the top rear hinge.
Cured that squeak by putting drops of oil directly above the hinge mounting fasteners and let gravity pull the oil down to the fastner (behind the hinge) hope that's not confusing. Squeak gone after a week. :-)

We tried that exact thing, one of us shook the Jeep and the other listened around and sprayed some wd40 on different things to see if we could figure out where it came from but no real luck. Did you replace them or put some grease or something on them? Surely the wd40 didn’t kill the squeak long term. I guess I need to get back under there and figure out exactly which mounts your talking about. If you replaced them all what did you replace them with?

#2: Tube Seals; I replaced mine with similar ones when I rebuilt my Dana 30, yet, as I was told by a wise forum member (Jerry), they will hide any inner seal leaks. You will need to replace the inner seals to stop the issue, requiring you to remove the axle shafts, carrier, etc. It is not a hard job but will take some time and patience. The stock axle shafts have a dust boot, not a full-on seal.

So I finally got in touch with the PO today and he confirmed that all the diff and axle seals are brand new but that when he installed everything he overfilled the diff and it pushed a lot of fluid out into the axle tubes and dripping out a lot and that what I’m seeing is probably just some residual fluid that’s been sitting in the tube and is finally working it’s way out.

That being the case, I’ll probably just sit on issue #5 for a while and see if it drys up before I start pulling things apart.

I forgot to add number 6 which is probably the most important! Haha

6) new Emergency brake cable. So where the ebrake cable comes through the body it is cut off. Apparently when the Ford 8.8 was installed the stock cable didn’t work. I need to figure out how to address that....anyone happen to know exactly what I’ll need?
