Sound bar help

Hey guys,

I've been slowly beginning to work on upgrading the sound system on my Jeep. I have replaced the factory 4x6 speakers upfront, and you can already tell how much better it sounds. I was reading some of the threads to see what other people thought until I realized that my Jeep does not have a factory soundbar. It appears that the previous owner installed it with a Vertically Driven Soundbar (https://www.quadratec.com/products/14118_0XX_PG.htm), and frankly, it sounds like crap.

I confess I do not know much about having a great audio setup, and it appears that I will have to tackle this project much differently than many. The soundbar is equipped with 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 mids. The woofers are without a doubt blown or just crap.

Do you think it would be best to replace the woofers with a better set of woofers? Subwoofers? Or, should I just throw in some coaxial speakers, and then look into adding a subwoofer under the seat?

Whats your price point? Generally its a pretty good idea to get marine style speakers, especially if you like to drive with the top off.

Your first step is going to be getting an amp. 5 channels are popular, you can squeeze it under the dash or under a seat (front or back)

I would get a different sound bar personally, because your not going to get the sound you want out of anything smaller than 5" you could get something like this. - https://www.quadratec.com/products/...k8Snz_0LHjJqlObsZ_S9A7WvJ2fvLNUhoC1qIQAvD_BwE it fits a larger speaker but you have to check what kind of speakers you want. You can always retro fit what you have, cover the small speakers

I have a 99 and the factory sound bar is very shallow, it does not allow enough room for some aftermarket speakers to work properly let alone fit. There are some write-ups on expanding it with fiberglass, but i would really look into one thats going to give you enough cubic inches to allow your speakers to work properly.

The other big thing is BASS. This is really where your wants and needs come into play, some people go under the back seat (sucks if you want to take out your seat) or attached to the tailgate to take up less space. You can always just leave it in the back (takes up all your trunk space and is easily stolen... If your jeep was .... 04? and greater you have a small sub in the center console, there are also write ups on how to put a 10" rather than the factory 8. or you can just replace the 8 with something comparable. Like i said it really wherever you wanna go with it...

I'm putting in 2 tang band 6" woofers into my 99 center console, but its proved difficult working with new materials.
