So, after a rear-ended job, I’ve just got all parts painted and now putting back together.
I looked at the previous threads about the gasket between the spare wheel bracket and the tailgate that prevents metal to metal etc.
In those previous threads, the discussion has revolved around what to use for this gasket as the OEM ones are not available anymore. In each of those threads everybody was stressing about how they can create a seal but at the same time make it as thin as possible.
This is my question?
The OEM seal between the spare tire carrier on the tailgate is as follows: 10.7" x 2.6" x 1.8". See attached.
So 1.8 inches is not thin? Am I missing something?
Secondly, can any of you guys and gals tell me what the original OEM seal was made out of ie…hard rubber / soft rubber, etc?
Thanks...John.
