Wow, seriously? In the United States they would have just given you a wreckless driving ticket in most cases (probably about $1000 fine on average) and that's it.

Yep, I've seen those signs many times when visiting my wife's family in Toronto. It's no secret that's for sure, there are big signs warning you. Wondered how long they took your license for. Now I know. Freeways are posted for 100kph.

I got a speeding ticket in New Mexico for 93 in a 45. New Mexico doesn't do jail for speeding like that any more lucky for me. It was a 250ish ticket if I recall correctly.

Yes I know it was stupid and I shouldn't have done it I've since learned and don't speed, no need for it.

Over here the minimum fine for speeding is £100 and 3 points off your license. But for more serious cases you can be fined up to 175% of your weekly income. The maximum possible fine for speedier on normall roads £1000 on highways £2500.
