Starter bolts?

Did some digging and found a couple references to the bolt being an M10-1.5. I picked one up, however it just doesn’t seem to bite.

Is there different size I should but using or am I looking at stripped out threads on my starter?

It probably is but I didn't look...I want to say both bolts are m10x1.5 but it seems like ive run into a few that had a metric on top and a 3/8 bolt on bottom or vice versa

Depends on the year. Early had a metric for one and an SAE for the other. Later IIRC are metric for both.

Well shoot. M10-1.5 is larger than 3/8 and it’s slipping. Time to helicoil.

My ax15 took a 3/8-16 to bolt the starter to the bellhousing.
