Starting TJ after winter lay-up

In the past when I have started a vehicle after a long period being "laid up" I've removed the coil - distributor H.T. lead so that I can crank the engine, get the oil flowing and the pressure up, check for leaks/unusual noises without the engine starting.

So how do I do that with a 4.0 2001 with a coil pack, OPDA and ECU without confusing the computer, or buggering something else up, as I don't like starting a "dry" engine?

Just pull the coil rail connector. Pull the fuel pump relay too if you don’t want fuel spraying in the cylinders with no spark.

I've always put a small squirt of something like liquid wrench in the sparkplug holes so the rings aren't scraping a bone dry cylinder. Just a squirt, plugs back in. Then crank.
