Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ radiator

Stay away or take a trip to take a look?

And updated could mean they replaced the frame. I would want as many pictures of the frame as I could get.

To me there is a big difference between Safety Caps and a full frame replacement.

Still would want pictures but a replacement frame would be worth more to me.

Completely agree. I'd be happy to purchase a jeep that had its frame (competently) swapped, but I would never buy a repaired one.

FWIW, I won't answer 50 questions (phone/email/text) when I'm selling a Jeep. I tell people to come look at it and if you want to pay my asking price, knock on my door to talk. If not, drive away. Gets rid of the tire kickers.

Generally this is my feeling as well, but I am not having luck anywhere it is efficient for me to do that in the NE US. And paying remote mechanics $250 or spending a day and gas money to far-flung places doesn't make sense either. I'd rather have a phone conversation, tbh.

Lordy. And this one has a 4" lift which means if they didn't do anything to correct for any death wobble...

BUt they must have otherwise it wouldn't drive properly.

Would any of you even look at a lifted wrangler? Do any of you know Safari Overland?

I'll sell you BB, $16,500.00. New springs, new rear adjustable track bar, new double adjustable aluminum controll arms. Just changed the oil and front and rear differential fluid.

No death wobble and has wheeled with numerous forum members.

2006 Rubicon 181xxx miles.

Even good for daily driver.

You wanna play, you gotta pay.

These days, TJ prices have dropped to crap and waiting it out to lowball the seller works. This 2003' Rubicon with 147,000 miles and zero issues might be for sale in the next month. $8,000 FIRM in Va.

Same... I would rather drive my Jeep into the ocean than to sell it for $6000 and answer a bunch of questions.

Man, there sure ain't much by me that I think you would be interested in. Some with lifts that are questionable. Lots claiming solid frames with no pics whatsoever of the underneath. Wonder if people are just holding onto them now since the prices seemed to have dropped so much.

Yup, and I'd sell a bunch of them too. 🤫
Bought this for $12,000 with 57,000 miles on it and sold it for even more. Buyer never even drove it or looked it over. He got a great deal because I don't lie or bullshit potential buyers. I expect the same when I'm buying. I judge people by their words/lies. Being married many times gives me this super-power. ;)

Frame looks good and price is fine. LJs unlifted look like big ass Migets to me.

I've seen so many tricks to make frames look good I don't trust anyone. Some bondo them, some have used expanding foam, the last one I looked at the guy tried to hide a 6" hole with gorilla tape lol.

.....and I couldn't agree more on the "big ass midget" comment lol

If only. After I emailed him the full report, he stopped texting me. I found it to be odd, so I just looked at my email to be sure, and, sure enough, he had responded to say:

——

Don’t really want to discuss the report.

First, who names their company Lemon Report??

The report has many errors and I don’t wish to discuss each and every one. The most glaring error is that he comments that the rugs show “Normal” wear. The carpets from front to back are Brand New. I installed them myself.

The report sounds like he is evaluating a 2 or 3 year old car instead of a twenty year old car. For a 20 year old car, the vehicle is in awesome condition.

If you determine that this car is not what you want, I thank you for looking and I wish you good luck with your search
😊

———

I asked him and reply whether or not that meant he was firm on $9000 no matter what, and we will see what he says. My sense is that he was insulted, the real irony being that he was the one to put me on the service in the first place in connection with Hemmings.

Exactly what I was thinking when you said you were going to offer $6,000 before you did. Insulted indeed ( 1/3 off ) I would have replied the same way. Should have asked if he would accept $6,000 before wasting his time, your time, your money & a lemon inspection report !!! Your NOT going to find ANYTHING / ANYWHERE for that kind of chump change that doesn't have rust or need work !!! Step up to the plate, & adjust your budget accordingly, or move on. There was a great looking 2006 yellow rubi with only 15,000 miles ( NEW ) posted on here somewhere recently for $32K. That was pretty much window back in the day, Maybe offer $28 - $30 but me personally that's what I'd buy!!!
Good luck in your search.

OK. Didn't mean to offend your sensibilities. I am trying to do things on a tighter budget. If that is beneath you, I understand. It's all relative and all dependent on one's other burdens. Other people have found great deals, and TBH I think $6K is all that thing is worth AFTER the inspection. Not before, although I was certainly trending in that direction thanks to your collective experience.

I might have otherwise purchased it at $9K and felt like an idiot, so not sorry I did that. I'm not without resources, as it would be my fourth car, but it also MUST be an auto because it is not for me but the almost-missus for a country runabout. It would also be the 4th vehicle. Anyway, appreciate your perspective.

I am willing to pay for something I know is decent, and there is no way to tell (other than perhaps among this community here) who would be trustworthy and have a rep they are careful to uphold. I don't hide the ball, but most people do and don't feel bad about it. This guy selling it definitely did, so worth the $250. (Also, I don't see why it would be absurd to send a guy who **suggested I use the service** the report for my own sake.)

Looking at ones a bit more expensive, but won't buy one without some real due diligence if I cannot see them in person.

Maybe people are too sensitive these days.
