For as long as I've owned my 2005 Jeep (since 2017) I've noticed a slight bump in the steering wheel. Mostly when taking turns. While inspecting for possible culprits, I noticed that there's a bit of play in the boot (I'm sure that's not actually what it's called) where the steering column goes through the firewall. I was wondering if this is normal or if there should not be any play there?

I have a similar "bump" feel in mine. I haven't spent much time tracking it down, but my best guess is the lower steering bearing or pillow block is shot on the shaft assembly.
