Steering wheel swap

Combine it with a quick release, you can carry your wheel around with your stereo face-plate when you are mall crawling!

Nope I never could remember to take my faceplate with me.

But nice to know there is a hub adapter kit for us. Now just to find "THAT" wheel that I like and BOOM you just helped me spend more money.

I read somewhere you need to have about 3" of depth to the wheel, otherwise your hand will hit the levers controlling blinkers and such? MOMO makes a 6 bolt hub adapter and I think it has more depth than Grants?
Something to consider.

Don't think that would work here for PA Inspections.

I don't think it would work with any place that does a safety inspection. But as I said mine is 90% a trail rig so it doesn't see much road time. I'm not worried about not having a air bag but if my TJ was my DD I wouldn't be thinking about it.

I was doing some research on this a while back. I found some info on a product that keeps the clock spring functional. I would suggest trying to find that info.

Post # 24 they talk about how to modify your clock spring to keep it working with a aftermarket steering wheel.

Of course if you don't want to keep your clock spring there are more ways to do this but you lose the self cancel feature for your turn signals and you have to figure out your horn.

You found it, I have seen this at least a dozen times.

If you want to keep the clock spring this looks like the way to do things. So that just makes this that much easier for me. I've had my passenger bag disabled for years.

The wiring is going to be different, as they made alot of changes to wiring, as the switching for the lights is in the LJ column, and the TJ is is the old pull switch. Probably run into more stuff. I think the splines would be same, if a WJ wheel can fit a TJ. Probably have to swap wiring from TJ column to LJ to make it work.
Well I wouldn't need to replace the whole column. So it would still have original light switch, turn signal etc. I would just be replacing the steering wheel and clock spring.

Basically I just want to know if anyone has tried installing a steering wheel from 03-06 on to a 98-02.

My misunderstanding. I think one would, if a WK wheel can fit a TJ, I do not know why they would change the spline. It did not change from YJ to TJ. The WK wheel is very similar to the late TJ wheels.

Reviving this here but im thinking about it......i have a brand new momo "Prototipo" wheel laying around that i bought for cheap and man is it a sexy wheel......my airbag hasntworked work since the begining of this year since i broke the clockspring so ive been riding with no horn either and uhmmm....im thinking about just buying a hub and call it a day but i also daily drive 82 miles a day so ill kinda need an airbag if i ever get into an accident🙃, God forbid

been in a accident going 50-60 mph and hydroplaned and no airbag needed cause they never went off so ill be good says my brain said and my body......but if i want to be responsible i guess ill just buy a clockspring first for my Lj and just rock the stock crusty steering wheel...
May delete this cause ive lost a bit of sleep and cant get my mind over this.....
Edit- And i may get flamed for sayin this but oh well, FAAFO

I would get the clockspring fixed so your airbag will work. Don't risk your life for a purdy steering wheel, it's not worth it.

I used to work as an EMT in the 90's and saw a lot of people die for stupid reasons. Many were motorcycle riders and others that chose to not wear their seatbelts. One had his skull smashed like a watermelon from hitting a fancy steering wheel.

My first car was an 81 Mustang and the steering wheel was one of the first things I bought for it. Air bags weren't standard back then though.
