Stripped bolt on door

In my first attempt to take one of my Jeep doors off, I think I stripped one of the bolts. The bolt keeps turning, but it won't come down. How do I get it off? I really want my door off

Do you have a pic of how bad it is? Your not trying to remove the torx bolts on the hinges are you? Otherwise it should be a nut your trying to remove. And I would say soak it with penetrating oil, then tap a slightly smaller socket onto it and try to break it free.

You don't remove any bolts to remove the doors. You only remove the nut at the bottom of each of the two hinge pins on each door to allow the doors to be lifted up & out of the hinge-half bolted to the tub.

If the nut is just spinning without coming off, it's probably stripped; you may try wedging something thin in between it and the bottom of the hinge, and pry downward while turning the nut, to see if the threads will catch and allow the nut to thread downward and off...otherwise the nut will have to be cut off if you want to remove the door.

You could try vice grips on the, pin but expect paint damage

Need to know what bolt is spinning. But if it is one of the hinge bolts, NOT one of the bolts holding the hinge to the body.... you can cut the bolt/nut off. If it is one of the Torx bolts holding the hinge to the dody, IGNORE it. It stays on with the doors off.

Heres mine, Top hinge I left the threaded end on...

Bottom hinge, I cut off the threaded end.

BUT if your TJ has never had the doors off.... they are likely almost seized on. You will lots of thread buster, moove it, penitrating oil for a start. PLUS a buddy to lift PLUS a 2.5# Ball Peen hammer to get the door off.
