Hey guys,

Was curious... I'm building my jeep slowly but surely taking my time and I've been reading about lift size, tires, and transfer case drop. I have not decided what route or what size lift to go with yet from 2.5 to 4 inch. If i decide to go with 3 inch or above inch lift can I change my shaft and put a SYE before i do a lift? or does it all have to be done at the same time. If i decide with 2.5 -3 maybe just drop the transfer case due to budget.
Thanks

Hey Azroc and welcome.

As far as I know the SYE by itself can be done at any time and it hooks up to the stock rear drive shaft just fine. When you do your lift is when you want to change out the drive shafts but if you put the SYE before then I would imagine the job would be much easier since all you're doing is swapping out drive shafts.

X2 on Rob' advice. The SYE will require a double cardan driveshaft on top of your SYE. Change the lift and you may find that you need your new DC shaft lengthened. Essentially you'd be doing it twice. Put it all on and together with your lift and measure for the new DC shaft length.
