Do people not do a hack-n-tap here? Did that on my XJ's 231. Easy and cheap.
I cant drill a straight hole and they weren't that much cheaper last time I checked

I am about that tall and all we do is use drive on ramps so you can sit upright under the rig and work away quite easily. I've done many, I don't pull them. And as for the recommendation to get snap ring pliers, a great set of lock ring pliers is more of a need. His job doesn't involve much accuracy so there is that.
I had no idea lock ring pliers were even a thing. That would work way better than snap ring piers...

I have a set similar to the set on the left side of your first photo. Mine has a set of tips like in your last photo which work fine on the lock rings I have used them on.In case you don't know, as I didn't until I installed my SYE recently, the snap ring pliers are on the left, the lock ring pliers are on the right:

Snap ring pliers won't do the job. Those lock rings are strong.
The $16 lock ring pliers from the local auto parts store worked fine for me.
If only you knew someone to call.I had no idea lock ring pliers were even a thing.

How many hours do you charge for this job?
The pliers make all the difference. The first one I did my pliers wouldn’t open up wide enough like Jerry mentioned. I had to grind the handles and they worked well enough. I tried using them on the next SY but the knurling was worn. Bought a pair of Knipex, they sucked so I bought these. Pricey but they made it a breeze
