Synthetic Winch Line Thimble

I am thinking about changing my hook on my synthetic winch line to a thimble. Factor 55 seems to be the big name in thimbles, but I had heard some time ago that they were having problems with their thimbles. Is this still true or are they a good piece of equipment? Is there other manufacturers that I should look at?

TRE for a thimble, the design Blaine came up with is great. I think Viking sold it first and now TRE does. There is nothing wrong with the Factor 55 splicer very generally other than the fact it is a rip of Blaines work. Honestly I wish Black Magic made this stuff because it seems like he doesn't really get credit or cash for the design either way but I fortunately don't know the details.

I think it's really that simple but I'm open to alternate interpretations. After all I observed this and here I am practically plugging TRE. From what I remember you run flat link, I like that one too. For what it's worth I'm going to run an Apex hook and don't give a shit either way. I enjoy the ride.
