Montgomery County police say the teens forced the driver to give them his keys at a Germantown gas station

Two teens who carjacked a man at a gas station in Germantown, Maryland were unable to drive away because they didn't know how to operate the car's manual transmission, police say.

A 16-year-old from Rockville and a 17-year-old from Washington, D.C. were arrested after the carjacking on Saturday at the Sunoco gas station on Frederick Road, Montgomery County police said.

A man had just finished pumping gas and was getting into his car when he saw the two teens running toward him, police said. The teens then forced his door open, grabbed him and demanded his keys, which he handed over to them.

When the teens got into the car, they didn't know how to operate the car's manual transmission, police said, so they got out of the car and ran off.

I watched a youngster repeatedly stall my beater car while driving it into the bay at Discount Tires. He later noticed me watching him change the tires, and when he was done, he asked me to back it out for him.

Had the same thing happen at the local emissions place here in GA. Attendant told me to leave the keys in the Jeep and he would pull it into the bay for testing. Then he got in, and promptly back out and asked me to pull it into the testing bay.

That's funny, I'd have a hard time holding back my laughter watching them run away.

I had a similar experience at a restaurant with valet parking. You'd think the hiring person would verify that someone whose only job is going to be parking cars would know how to drive a stick.

Watched a valet parking kid rev my Audi S4 nearly to redline.. I escorted him out before he had a chance let the clutch out. Fortunately I had set the ECU to valet mode so he was working with about one tenth of the nearly 500 hp but you know he was about to ride it.. my clutch would have been torched. Lesson learned.

Taught my 18 year old to drive the TJ. Once she had her license I had to replace both rear drive shaft spicers and the 3 gear synchro is "crunchy". All good fun.
