Temperature control cable not available

It appears that I cannot slide the heater control to heat - I've had the unit out of the dash and oiled up the linkage to the flap control and the cable tube as such. I managed to free it up when the unit was free from the dash but it seems to lock up when replaced, I can only assume the cable is snagging inside the tube where it has possibly worn through as such. Anyone had similar or has a fix? Problem is the cable is not manufactured any longer and after extensive searches its not available in the UK. Part number K55037405AA (im told).
Can anyone help?

Quick update in case someone else has the same problem. the cable has an adjuster 1/3 from the heater control which can be reached just under the drivers steering column as it bends to the heater flaps, it was this the cable was biting into so after removing the cable and giving it an oiling all was good. perhaps silicon spray would have been better.
