The decline of restaurants and eating out

Life was so much easier before, smartphones, the internet and home computers.

As a kid growing up, all I thought about was squirrel hunting with my feist dog and fishing in the neighbors lake.

So much simpler times........

We liked riding bikes , playing army , and throwing rocks or snowballs at each other ! Definitely not video games , social media or even talking on the phone.
The big thing was watching TV on Friday night for Adam -12 , and on Sunday for Walt Disney and Bonanza .... :ROFLMAO:

Yes sir, pretty much the same.

And tuning into wrestling every Saturday afternoon with my great grandfather.

I remember Rick Flairs first match on the NWA channel 17 WTBS out of Atlanta.

 🤣;);)

@Chris time to lock this thread? I can’t tell if this is a new phone argument or the one from last month, or the month before, or the one from 3 months ago….

I think it’s time for me to somehow compile all this phone stuff and move it to a dedicated phone thread. I actually enjoyed this thread until we went off the rails.

Computers suck too. I spend all day on one. Phones are just little computers. I can use almost all the same software on both. Google, Facebook, X, Instagram, Office, email, etc. I can access the same sites. So in my mind there is no difference in the quality of content. If one sucks, I can bring up the same suck on the other. If one is good,I can use the same good stuff on the other. I can plug my phone in a docking station and use a monitor/keyboard. I can open my laptop on a plane and watch a movie or scroll the interwebs.

Many people work on chromebook type computers which are just tablets with a keyboard. Or worse Apple stuff.

When I retire, I plan on limiting my time with all of it. For now, I work with it daily.

Tech by phone, computer, gaming, car, etc create a suck that is no different to me. But I use tech to my advantage and ignore the rest of the garbage so I don't end up sucking.

I get where you're coming from, but you make the assumption the man is a Christian, and a practicing one. Not everyone's a believer. (y)

He may not be, but it is a spiritual work of mercy to correct those who sin due to ignorance. God does not care if someone "is a believer" or not. Eternal life matters more than anything. Maybe if that guy gets corrected here and there he will consider changing.

This statement tells me you have missed the point and will not get it. Regardless, I think if I was him, I might have a few choice words for you regarding you somehow being merciful in correcting his sin due to ignorance, and the fact that he needs to change (according to your personal beliefs). That's a bit pompous for starters and presumptuous as well, but I'm well aware some denominations of organized religion are like that and always have been.

Having said that, this thread is not about your religion or related belief system, and maybe his choice of language on a public forum wasn't so great. so I'll leave it at that. The facts of declining dining services remain...

THANK YOU!

But more humorously, I don't know why its almost always an "H". The most involved expression I ever heard (read) was "Jesus H. C. Roosevelt Christ" - whatever that was all about! :D

+1

Religion section has some very good conversations and that’s where this belongs.

My father had some interesting combinations for sure, most of which typically ended with "in the mountains". Personally, I would have pegged Jesus as a beach man, but thought better of it not to broach the subject at times like those...lest one had the masochistic desire for punishment to be delivered with more swiftness and severity than originally intended. :)

I've also heard "... on toast". Not sure what that's all about...
