The great resignation—where is the hired help?

If the machine can line up the meat and cheese with the bun this will be a marked improvement!
I would prefer a machine cooking my meals anyways. I say that because I know the robot will be consistent, accurate, speedy, and probably better all around than some kid who doesn’t give a shit.

The kid is more likely to put shit in your food

Knew kids that liked to fry grasshoppers in the fryers at Arbys

Yep, I used to work at Burger King when I was 15-16 and I can attest to crap like this firsthand.
I asked how they could get away with it and his response was "I work at an Arby's next to McDonalds, we have nothing to do except watch all the people go to McDonalds"

Yep, that about sums it up. Like I said, I would be happy to replace fast food workers with robots. The slackers don’t want to work anyways so we may as well replace them.

I'm a retired Heavy Equipment Operator and every time that I look on CL for a temp job, I see the "Must pass a drug test"
bullshit. Damn it. That's my own time, at home. And not on their shit for pay temp job.
They would probably hire me if I was just an alcoholic.

that's probably a requirement of their liability insurance, because the insurance company has deemed it a risk to have heavy equipment operated by people who don't give a shit.

Not giving a shit would not be me. Drunk at work seems to be more acceptable than the mellow mood of a stoner.

It is already happening here, Taco Bell and many others have no counter person just a few KIosks to place you order, no cash allowed just debit/credit.

that's good, but weed isn't like alcohol where a test can distinguish current impairment from past usage, so the only way to keep out those who will climb into the drivers seat while actively stoned out of their gourds is to keep everybody out that uses.

If a test couldn't tell the difference between drunk and had a beer last week, they probably would do alcohol tests, too.

Yes, that’s happened here as well. I am just waiting for the robots to replace the cooks. I will actually be happy if that happens.
