Thermocure heater core flush

As a last ditch effort I would like to try to use thermocure to flush my heater core, which seems to be the most recommended product for the job (correct me if I’m wrong please). I tried Bluedevil (because it was available at autozone) last night by disconnecting the heater core hoses, flushing it out with water, then lifting the hoses up high and filling it with the bluedevil and letting it sit for 3 hours. I then flushed it back and forth with water again, and it got out a decent amount of what looked like rust chunks and particles. May have gotten a bit of improvement in heat, but not enough to know for sure it isn’t in my head (plus it was a warmer 57F night last night)

So I’d like to try thermocure now… just curious if thermocure needs heat to be activated or work properly? Or can I simply do as I did before and let it sit in the heater core at 100% strength? Also, since engine heat wouldn’t be there to possibly help the process, how long should I let it sit/soak in the thermocure. Over night, a weekend, or just a few hours?

Yep, that’s the stuff I want to try using… do you know if how I want to use it is ok/will be effective and if I possibly should let it sit in the heater core for longer since it wont be seeing engine heat? (Don’t really want to run a flush through my brand new radiator, water pump, and thermostat)

It won't hurt any of that. Plus, you want it in the block as well. Otherwise what's there will just transfer to the heater core, once you run the vehicle.

I think you misunderstand what I’d like to try a bit. I would like to try disconnecting the core, blow out the coolant thats in it/flush it out with water, then lift the hoses up high and fill it with straight thermocure and let it set like that overnight (or however long peopl end up suggesting). Not connecting it back up to the engine (or driving my jeep) until the thermocure is flushed out completely and blown out.

Probably would hurt it, but you still have only treated a part of the system. What comes out of the block is substantial and impressive. Give it a shot and report back what you find!

That’s how long the bottle of bluedevil recommended, and at 100% strength instead of mixing with water so I figured it would work well. Does heat from the engine help the process? I do understand what you’re saying, it needs more time than that either way

I used Blue Devil and drove it around for 6-8 hours total time.
Instructions;
For deeper radiator cleaning, drive your vehicle for 3-6 hours at normal driving conditions or intermittently over a period of a few days, if weather permits. Do not let the cooling system temperature fall below 32 degrees F.

Reporting back for closure… Holy crap thermocure works!! Before I could only get max 140F out the vents when moving, 120F when idling slightly one way or the other depending on the ambient temp. Now It’s 170F idling and 175-180F driving! First flush after was black as night, and I only ran it for 2 hours (out of being cautious) I’m slowly flushing it to clear distilled water now and *might* run one more go of thermocure to be sure I got it all.

On a side note, several times people have mentioned running thermocure then Prestone “drive around flush” to clear out different crud (scaling instead of rust)… Call me dumb, but I don’t see one called that, could someone link it or post a pic of the bottle? Might do that while I’m at it, cuz why not.
