Tight hinges

Picked up '04 tailgate hinges, they look like new, and match my paint, but very stiff. I know they were in sealed, indoor storage for many years.

What's the recommended lube? to loosen these up?

You might want to drill into the barrel - you will feel when you hit the pin, and then use a good penetrant - it only takes a 3/32 hole to accept most aerosol straws


Kroil has an excellent reputation- but most anything will be a beneficial.

drill a small hole in each of the hinges, use Kroil. If you have a Jeep, you need a can of Kroil. Spray liberally. Here's a video:
