I had an 04 wrangler that had the factory speakers which sound quality was terrible and just bought an 05. I want to make this one sound great, I found this on quadratec and was wondering if anyone has this and if it will work. And what size speakers and what brand speakers would be good to replace the factory ones

I have no experience with that speaker, but in the FAQ section, there's a good write up on upgrading your stereo. My jeep came with Kicker speakers in the dash and roll bar pod. The sound was OK. I have since replaced the head unit, OEM subwoofer, and added a small amp and it sounds great. The Kicker speakers sound much better with an amp. Other owners have had good results with Polk speakers and an amp. For the cost of that subwoofer, I think you can get better results going a different direction.

I did my setup last fall and did the Polk DB522+ (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZWFNKA/?tag=wranglerorg-20) in the soundbar and dash.

The dash also needed some backing to avoid losing all the sound to the nethers, did the Dash Pods (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LCTG9T1/?tag=wranglerorg-20).

For my sub I pulled out the rubbish factory setup and dropped a powered sub into my center console, the Sound Ordnance B-8PTD (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IF9IIWK/?tag=wranglerorg-20).

I didn’t want to give up any usable space or make anything too visible for passers by.

So far it’s pretty great and all together cost less than that sub you pictured.

I have a box that was made to fit behind the bench seat. Angled on the bench side and flat on the tailgate side. The subs are mounted facing down on the bottom of the box. I installed two layers of blocks to raise the box up for clearance for the face of the woofers. Mounted the amp under the seat. The huge benefit to this set up is the anti theft. You cannot remove the box without opening the tailgate and the amp without taking out the seat. I used a sealed box and have ample bass for any kind of music selection. two 10" subs and a dedicated amp. Used JBL they sound great...with a quality deck and I am not using a seperate amp for them.

I have 4 JL audio 6.5" marine speakers in mine all amplified by a Kenwood marine amp with a Kenwood head unit. Two in the sound bar, two in my custom trunk box that also houses the amp.

What I like about the setup is the volume is insane and crystal clear all the way through. With the top off, the sound is truly impressive. Subs don't work that well with the top off which is why I steered to an extra set of marine speakers instead of subs. I truly don't think there is a better quality speaker on the market than JL audio's marine lineup, they are built very very well. That being said they might be the most expensive. I've put in a lot of sound systems for various vehicle, boats, etc, JL is the best IMO.

If you mostly leave your top on, a sub paired with nice round speakers is a great choice. The one you have in your post would be a nice choice. I would consider getting a single amp to power the speaker and amp to simplify things. Depends how far you want to take it.

Hi, saw your post and am doing a similar upgrade in my ‘06 LJ minus the amp & powered sun, for now. Question on the sub, does it fit in place of the OEM powered sub? I do intend to add a sub and amp, Just working in stages. Thx much…..

If you have the OEM sub you'd probably be best served by using the existing enclosure and just updating the speaker/amp. Mine was loose in there (I always intended to make a bracket to fix that) - but I ended up just mounting it to the floor behind the driver seat.
