Going to the dunes for the first time this week and looking for tow strap info. I’ve seen 4” x 30‘ on Facebook. What do you guys think? Any brand better than another? TIA
Thanks, Jerry, I’ll take a look and learn what I can about these. I was looking at tow straps with sewn loops.Avoid ANY tow strap with steel hooks (what you want will have sewn loops) and actually most "tow straps" should be avoided. What you want is a snatch strap or rope that has just a small amount of give that is regularly needed for stuck Jeep recoveries. Tow straps have no give and are strictly for highway use.
"Kinetic" tow ropes are good choices... the kinetic part means it has a little give which can help during recoveries. Like these... https://www.tacticalrecoveryequipment.com/product-category/kinetic-recovery-rope/
Which rope would you suggest for the Jeep? The standard?Avoid ANY tow strap with steel hooks (what you want will have sewn loops) and actually most "tow straps" should be avoided. Tow straps have no give and they can break recovery points when a little extra 'oomph' is given trying to get something recovered. Steel hooks can become lethal projectiles if something breaks.

Yep standard would be great.Which rope would you suggest for the Jeep? The standard?
I have both and feel the rope is easier to use. The strap gets twisted, has to be more carefully rolled, and just isn't as easily thrown in the back for more uses that day as a rope is.Anyone make a strap instead of a rope? All the ropes that I see seam to be so big and take up a lot more room than a flat type strap tightly rolled

Yes, Jerry provided a link in his post and I’ve been looking at them. I’m leaning toward Kinetic rope. Will do more looking.Have you looked into Kinetic ropes?
https://www.tacticalrecoveryequipment.com/product-category/kinetic-recovery-rope/Lots of fellas using them more and more especially on the sand.
I will avoid anything does not comes from real recovery equipment supplier. Many brands and much more knock off products so be aware when buying.
I do personally use TRE.https://www.tacticalrecoveryequipment.com/
That’s the snatch strap I carry, no complaints beyond size (but it still fits in my pack out with all my tools and spare parts - so really not a big deal).Have you looked into Kinetic ropes?
