Trans fluid in coolant over flow bottle

I was out running the heavily washboard forest service roads of the mountains her in AZ and my heater core started leaking. Then the Jeep started to overheat. 210 is normal and got up to 230 and settled there for a few miles then got really hot, pulled over and let her cool. Finally made it to town here in Heber. Over heated again right as we got home. Because of all the labor involved I decided to just by pass the heater core until fall. Got that done and went to put fresh antifreeze in the radiator and found tranny fluid in the coolant over flow bottle. Haven’t checked the tranny fluid yet. I’ll do that in the morning. New radiator, new tranny or both???

Your internal trans cooler has ruptured. You’ll need to replace the radiator and flush the cooling system well. I’d service the trans as well to be safe.

Thoroughly flush your transmission asap, there is coolant flowing through it!

If you can’t fix it get it towed. You don’t want to run it low on trans fluid, or risk more contamination of the trans fluid.

Show Low very cool! I wheeled Rubicon Trail last summer with a couple really good guys from there.

Are you 100% positive it’s tranny fluid in the overflow container?

Which has higher pressure? The coolant or the trans? Could he possibly get lucky and have the contamination pushed only 1 direction?
