You have the NV231. AKA 231, AKA NP231. It started as the NP (New Process) 231, then it became the NV (New Venture) 231 after it was purchased by Venture. They're all the same so long as it's made for a '97 or newer TJ. Only the Rubicon's transfer case is different.
Also, if you ever want to visually verify what t-case a Jeep has, They *should* have a metal ID tag on the rear facing side that looks like the attached photo.

I've got a 99 TJ with the 2.5 and 5 speed. I have looked all over the internet and every picture I see of the tag is red and says New Progress and the model. The tag on mine says Mopar and has a part number P2099310, with a build date code 1690209. Is this a NP,NV or is this case not OE to the jeep? Any help would be appreciated.
Darrin, as was also said above, the transfer cases with NP and NV on the tag are all the same. NP=New Process and NV=New Venture are different names for the same company who made it for Mopar.
