Transfer case leak

So I changed my transfer case fluid and all was well it is a np231 terra low with Manual transmission this Sunday I used 4wd a lot and I noticed I had a bunch of fluid dripping from the passenger side, I don’t have the Jeep at home to go really look into it as it’s at deer camp till I go back, but my question is, is it possible I filled up the transfer case fluid to much and it is coming out of the breather hose on the trasnfer case? It was also hot this weekend, but have used the 4wd last couple weekends with no problems but today used it in 4LO often and it was very hot outside, any input would be appreciated!

Also Speedo gear o ring is fine no leaks

my question is, is it possible I filled up the transfer case fluid to much

I can think of only two scenarios where you could overfill. 1) you refilled on a noticeable nose-down incline, 2) you used a pump to refill and crammed the plug in before the oil got out. If you did neither of those, I don't think you could overfill, as the oil would just leak out of the fill hole while being filled.

I just don’t get how all of a sudden it would just start leaking like it is, sucks the Jeep isn’t at home to check it out, I gotta wait till this weekend to get under and investigate, just trying to narrow the possibilities of what caused it all of a sudden

@98chilipepper Just to make sure, what oil did you use? It should be ATF+4, not a gear oil.

I suggested in a reply to his PM that he verify the vent hose is still attached to the top of his tcase. Hopefully it's something simple like that.

100% used ATF+4
