That's a harmonic balancer/damper. Newer models have them, older models don't. Not sure when they started including them on the 231, maybe around 2000 or so.

Seems like a stock case. Like Jerry said that specific one has a balancer.

Ah that makes sense. So everything is stock?
I was looking at doing a SYE and new driveshaft but when I was watching a couple videos the 231 in the videos had a longer housing.
