Transmission Repair Cost?

So I made a normal high school kid mistake and pushed my jeep a bit too hard. Before I call a shop and get blown away by prices, I am hoping to get an idea of what it’s going to cost.
Jeep doesn’t do anything when in reverse and won’t catch third gear. There also seems to be a knock in the transfer case.
Hoping it’s just gonna be a rebuild. Anyone have any experience in how expensive transmission repairs can be?

It’s a 2003 sport 4.0 with an automatic transmission. Located in east Texas if anyone has some shop suggestions

A new 42RLE transmission is around $2500 to $2000. The labor for installing it including new fluid and what not is probably going to be around $1200 give or take.

So I would expect to spend $2700 to $3300 roughly for a new transmission.
