Transmission temperature gauge sensor install

Getting ready to install a Dorman pan with drain plug and I want to get a sensor bung welded into the pan before it goes in, the question is where's the best place to put the sensor? R/S lower front corner seems like it would have the best immersion for the sensor but the cat is right there close by.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Now I just need to find a local welder, @JMT do you know of a local welder?

Silver brazing is much better. I can do it if you like.

Looking to do the same, hit the trans skid hard enough to disturb the seal. While I take the pan off, might as well install a temp gauge.
Will the sensor fit in the drain hole?

Bungs are about 10 bucks
Doing the work is about 20 bucks
Shipping is what it is and you do the paint.

I have an Autometer bung from another project but if you have something you're more comfortable with I'm ok with that

I'll have our shipping guys send the pan tomorrow

Depends on how it is made. We just need a flanged bung with 1/8" NPT female threads.

I've heard Blaine packages them nicely when he returns those if you aren't nice.
