Hello everyone. I am relatively new to the jeep family. I have a '97 wrangler 2.5 and am having trouble getting it started. When I first try to start it, the gauges don't work and the "engine light" does not come on. I read somewhere that if the engine light doesn't come on, it won't start. I heard that it could possibly be the pcm. I'd rather not spend the $$ on the pcm if I can get it diagnosed maybe as a relay or easier. Thank you all for reading. (BTW- it does start eventually, but it does take a while--and it does start when the gauges and engine light come on)

Scan it with an OBDII scanner and let us know what codes it’s throwing. That’s where you should start.

Check the condition of the (3) 32 pin harness connectors that attach to the ECM; if they are loose or dirty there will be no communications between the ECM and the electronics. Also check the condition of the ground cables bolted the side of the engine block.
