I'd be interested in seeing how they fit and latch.Bought them for the $80! Pics to come soon.
If anyone was interested in seeing/knowing more about them.
I've never been able to figure out why anyone installs them for trail use. We're held in by seat belts even if the doors have been removed. Unless it's for around town in areas where doors are required.
Yeah actually the TJ and JK ones do come with locks, it's the YJ and CJ ones that do not.I'd be interested in seeing how they fit and latch.
I don't know if the doors you bought came with the key for the lock, but if not, Tuffy makes these for keeping your doors from being lifted off:

The flat metal piece is on top of the hinge pin when it is locked, preventing the doors from being lifted off. Works for all Wrangler doors.
Edit: may not on those Element doors, as I see the flat piece is up higher because of the upper hinge on the TJ door, so they may be too high. Never mind. Good for oem doors, though. I had a set on my '97 Sport once...
I was just curious as to whether the seller still had the key. People don't always keep track of such things. Sounds like you got that with the doors...Yeah actually the TJ and JK ones do come with locks, it's the YJ and CJ ones that do not.
They require some minimal assembly but I set one in the hinge for a quick look and I loved the look, it absolutely matched my brush guard. I'll provide a forum review of them for everyone interested.

Coming back on this idea of protection I was driving down the highway back from Brighton to London doing between 80 and 90mph. No doors or roof. My friend fell asleep in the front passenger seat. He was learning towards me but I got worried about him leaning the other way and falling out the vehicle. I know the doors don't offer any sort of side impact protecting though.Honestly, no. You're really just paying for an armrest. I can't see how it would protect you much (if any at all).
I don't speak from experience, but just looking at them I can't see how they'd offer any real protection.

I still wouldn't bother getting tube doors though
the only issues I see with them from reviews on Amazon are that people have hard times with the latches.
Thanks!
I guess it really depends on "which" tube doors you choose since there are so many different ones and what your expectations are with them.Coming back on this idea of protection I was driving down the highway back from Brighton to London doing between 80 and 90mph. The locks prevent the doors from being stolen while on the Jeep. It locks the tube door to the door striker that is fixed on the body...and while yeah sure depending on what tools someone has on them they could also be undone and stolen. Its mainly for the quick piece of mind. Why locks, do you know how easy the are to steal unlocked?
He had his belt on but those things are made for collisions and rapid deceleration. It's not like a 5 point harness, you can slowly lean out the vehicle wearing a regular seat belt.Yeah, I hear ya. Hopefully he was at least wearing his seat belt!
Wait doors are required in town....oopsI've never been able to figure out why anyone installs them for trail use. We're held in by seat belts even if the doors have been removed. Unless it's for around town in areas where doors are required.
